New Rule
New Rule: Roommates should not share boys. Living with friends is a bonding experience. In fact, one of the greatest benefits of having roommates is the access to resources it provides. If you’re sick of your clothes you can borrow a roommate’s shirt. When you realize you've run out of shampoo right before your about to jump in the shower, you grab the bottle sitting on the shelf above yours and promise your roomie you’ll buy more tomorrow. In the small spaces that provide college apartment life, there is little that is really your own. You borrow a roommate’s nail polish tonight and she’ll borrow a stamp from you tomorrow. In all of this sharing there is one thing that should not be allowed but all too often occurs - the overlapping of boys. Some may ask, why is this so wrong? The first reason has to do with confusion. You wake up one morning and see a boy slinking out of one of your roommate’s room. A week later you see the boy slinking out again. But wait. It’s a different room. Did two of your roommates switch rooms and forget to tell you, did you just think it was the same boy but it’s really an entirely different individual. So many questions can come from this situation, questions that can be avoided if this important new rule is followed. Another reason for the rule has to do with squatter’s rights. Again, let’s say two roommates hook up with the same guy. Then, a while later, its formal time and both of the roommates want to take said guy. Who get to take him? Is it the roommate that hooked up with him first, because she was first, or is it the second roommate because she was the most recent? The moral is clear. Share your clothes, share your food, share whatever – just don’t share boys.
